Canceling Content IDs/POL account. [?]

I know alot of you guys may know how to do this but it took me like 3 hours of looking around to figure this out. I have called SE called GMs and canceled all of my IDs but I noticed I was still getting charged for accounts I have not been on for almost a year now. So I snooped around and found they hid the way to discontinue their services. call a gm and look at the response, I garentee you they tell you something TOTALLY different and it doesn't work.

Thusly: A simple picture guide so you don't get charged what I did.

Just make sure you don't cancel your POL account in the process.

Cancel only your Content ID. If you cancel your POL account, you will have to buy a new copy of the game if you want to play again.

I never had any problem deleting my content ID and not getting billed? >_>. I understand why they would hide "pol cancelation" very far in. First of all, it's free and they want people to come back to their game, and 2nd, too many people would just do this instead of simply canceling their content ID, than cry about not being able to come back to the game.

Not true, I canceled the content ID, infact I will take a picture of it. They still charge you the 12$ a month unless you cancel your POL account, or they were me. I have absolutly 0 content IDs but got nailed 30$ for my creditcard. It specifically points out that all your content IDs will stay intact for 3 months, if you dont return in that time you will loose them. Go read it or I can screenshot it if you like.

Yes, your content IDs will stay intact for 3 months if you cancel them, but not if you cancel your POL account. If you cancel your POL account, you gotta buy a whole new copy of the game and start a new account.

When you try to log into POL you get the screen you woulda gotten if your credit card didnt go thru [dunno if uve ever gotten that, I have a few times <_<; ] It also says if you wait for more then 3 months you will need to buy another copy of the game but im sick of prnt screen paste in photoshop resize save upload paste here, go look if you want to see.

Alls this does is cancel all your IDs in one swift click. Go read it. It does nothing more then that. If you dont want to use this thats okay, im not logging on these accounts anymore [just mules] I figured id post because I was STILL getting charged.

Unless they changed something recently, you can only resub if you only cancel the content ID. I know from experience that if you cancel your POL subscription completely, you can not resub.

That is, unless they changed it very recently (within the past 3 months).

charged for this month. even know I deleated the charaters and removed the IDs, called a GM and asked how to make it stop charging 2 months ago, they said just cancel IDs and cancel charaters I did still get charged. I no longer have my pictures of "No content IDs to cancel", I posted them somewere on here. I could be wrong, but it says if u quit for 3 months u loose your charater.

chanced title to avoid confusion if I am incorrect then so be it I rather not have someones charater lost.

Yes, we know what it says and what they (GMs) say, but some of us have witnessed cancelled content IDs, for a period in excess of 12 months, get reactivated with the character completely intact. The 3 month statement is a 'cover-their-ass' statement so they don't have to guarantee characters are there after that time.

I cancelled my content IDs, and they stayed cancelled for 7 months, and I never got charged those 7 months. I came back, re-activated my IDs, nothing was deleted. Played for less than a month, re-cancelled, haven't been charged since.

ive gone through 4-5 mule accounts during my crafting frenzies. Usually i reactivate a mule when i know my checking account can afford it and when i need to sell a lot of stuff. Never had any problems canceling IDs and getting charged wrongfully

Notice at the top it says "If you cancel a content ID...".

I'm saying, if you cancel your POL account, you will not be able to resubscribe and you will have to buy a new copy of the game, and a new account if you wish to come back.

Cancelling your content IDs is the way to do it. Unsubscribing from POL is not.

It's probably not legal to not give an option to unsubscribe to a service, even a free one.

Anyone know how to remove the credit card info attached to a POL account? I know it says that POL will remain active as long as there is a working credit card attached to it but what if I don't want to be active for privacy reasons :wink:.

Does that unsubscribe function remove the credit card info or just cancel your content IDs?

Big thanks to Senoska for posting this, even if it's not a problem for most people it's always good to keep stuff like this out there so people can keep a better handle on their finances.

Anyhow, I checked my info, no sign of being billed since I left the game.
