Trailer is out. Looks like they didn't keep the whole original story. I hope they didnt butcher the fuck out of it though because it was an amazing book.

saw this trailer like a month and a half ago, downloaded the graphic novel right after, they basically adjusted almost all of it, not sure how well it will do but the comic was good
Considering this is supposed to have the "Joker Prologue / first 6 minutes of The Dark Knight / whatever the rumors are this week" in front of it at IMAX showings I'll be going just for that. The original Matheson story was good and I doubt the movie could be any worse than Smith's last Sci-Fi trainwreck "I, Robot", unless they intentionally make it bad.

there's a second, longer, official trailer exclusive on rottentomatoes if you are interested to check it out

for those that are lazy or just didn't check it out, here's the second trailer.

i was intrigued by the first one, the second one (this one) makes me yearn to see it.
I find it interesting that they used a piece (or pieces) from Clint Mansell's soundtrack for The Fountain as background music for the trailer. It's a beautiful soundtrack made haunting by its performance from the Cronos Quartet. Makes sense too, The Fountain certainly implies that in the future timeline he is The Last Man alive in the universe.
Movie looks very cool, I will definitely want to check it out.
Edit: Just listened to the trailer again and the music playing during the action bits at the end are likely from Mansell's "Death is the Road to Awe" off The Fountain soundtrack. (Without the drums and such though)
I enjoyed the first trailer and it got me interested in seeing it, but the second trailer, meh. The meh mostly comes from the crappy looking mutant/zombie people.
Fixed that. I really can't stand Will Smith any more... He's just been the hero in too many movies that are just unbelievable.Originally Posted by Penthesilea
Still say they're zombies, rather than vampires. Though the novel has the protagonist defending against vampires, they're mostly just cannibalistic.
The 2nd trailer looks much cooler to me. Too bad the dog got owned (it looks like).
Clint Mansell is also the fuckign man when it comes to movie soundtracks. His work on Pi and Requiem for a Dream are still some of my favorites.
So, is this movie based off the novel or the old movie?
Read the novel for this movie so I'm looking forward to this.![]()
So I've seen the older version of the movie and was wondering if the ending in the novel was still the same.
The ending I am talking about is *HUGE SPOILER*: The main character dies
idk if this novel is based off one of the same name, but I saw the trailer for it today and it looks like a remake of The Omega Man. that might be a duh to some of you who already knew about this new movie i just felt the need to post it for confirmation.
Just finished reading the book... good read. Though I can say that it's definitely an ending left too far out in the opening... it felt too short.
Another Will Smith movie based on practically the same thing? I hope it isn't boring heh.
That soundtrack is beautiful, I went and bought it the day after I saw The Fountain. Clint Mansell has made some of the best songs for movies since I don't know who.Originally Posted by Elesirdur
The Omega Man was one of the past film adaptations of the classic vampire novel I Am Legend. From what I've gathered, they're more redoing the films and using the original title than doing an adaptation from the book. I dunno, I've only read the book, not seen the movies.Originally Posted by Remy0
Well, the novel attempts to take typical vampire mechanisms, such as a stake through the heart or sunlight killing them, and rationalize them scientifically.Still say they're zombies, rather than vampires. Sorta spoiler
As is discovered later on, some were dead and kept "alive" by the parasite, others were still alive, but at varying levels of reason and self-awareness.
Seemed rather closed to me, at least as far as the main character went =PThough I can say that it's definitely an ending left too far out in the opening... it felt too short.
Well, the final scene is him being executed by the vampires, and realizing that he has become to them what Dracula would have been to humans, hence the title. So if that's the same as the movie...So I've seen the older version of the movie and was wondering if the ending in the novel was still the same.
Was much better than I expected. I really liked how the background did a lot of story telling. The way the flash backs would tell his past piece by piece was also very well done. There wasn't a long drag in explaining what happened, so kept the movie interesting. Really enjoyed this movie. Tried to be vague to not spoil the movie.
New batman trailer was pretty bad ass too.
