Thread: Adder Jambiya/Blau    

Ive spoken to many people within the past week about what of these 2 daggers to main hand until i have my p.harpe/mandau (w/e comes first)

There have been compelling arguments for both with most people going towards the blau because its dps is slightly higher

but the Adder is only 23 delay lower with some very nice additions to it? on my server (phoenix) blau is around 2.3m and adder is 3m-3.4m (not enough have sold to have a proper price check but the star sapphire is 3mil) any help here?

i dont currently have x's or am far enough in CoP to do the enm for X's knife but i was planing on off handing it as soon as i got it. but for now i have a choice of the adder or blau. i had blau and sold it and now i have an adder myself. the EVA down effect procs quite often and is sapposidely 25% eva reduction which is half of my feint.

If I had a mandau I probably wouldn't dual wield. Even if I was /nin.
ps. I don't like fancy math, just what feels right.

What feels right, and what IS right are two very different things. That's why we have all this fancy math.

I would be surprised if Mandau > Mandau/X's. I guess I don't know all the fancy math well enough but last time I looked into X's it was insane.

you do know that tatami shield has str+5 for mercy stroke right? And with WAR sub you get double attack, berserk, warcry, attack bonus(lol+10), and more STR stats for Mecry Stroke. You still think your gonna be "surprised" when Mandaus beats Mandau/x's? lol

You wouldn't even want to dual weild a blau, you know, the thing that gives you even more ACC and Attack to enhance your stabbingness? Mandau's nice and all, but complement it with a nice girlfriend, and not your hand

The evasion down from Adder is beautiful not just for you, but for your party-- and in places where you are in an alliance +, that evasion down gets more and more millage than whatever damage bonus Blau is giving you. If you solo/small group more, then you're going to be relied on more for your personal damage, which means the Blau will do you and your group more good.

Of course, it all depends on price-- last Adder I saw being sold on Alexander was for about 6M, and it certainly isn't worth that. I'd throw down 1.5-2M for it, though, if the alliance+ scene is something you do a lot.

this is a good way to look at it i sappose, i acctualy do solo alot so i decided to sell my adder and get myself a new blau, once i get P.harpe though itll be pharpe/blau instead of blau/sirocco

You do know that X's knife is a straight up approximately 10% increase on critical hit damage, right? This means SA Mercy Stroke, or TA Mercy Stroke will do 10% more damage. 5 Strength is not going to give you a 10% increase in damage, it won't even give you a 5% increase, probably more like 2%, and I believe your DoT would be approximately equal as /NIN or /WAR, Wafik would know far better than I, but I expect the 10% extra WS damage (and then some from the offhand hit) would come out on top.

Mandau/X's wins over /war. Why? Because I end up dead whenever I /war since nobody can keep hate off Depending on the situation, X's and blau are the best offhands for mandau. X's for any high defense / HNM type monster, and blau for anything with weaker defense, or situations where you can't (or aren't) using SA / TA + mercy. Mandau /war, while great and all, isn't practical in many situations (it is for sky gods, cerberus, certain jailers (like justice, definitely not prudence)) You pull hate with mandau, a lot. Need shadows to survive
