2007-2008 NBA Playoffs - THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

    First Round Matchups

    *Bolded my favorites
    WEST
    #1 LA Lakers in 5
    vs.
    #8 Denver Nuggets

    #2 NO Hornets in 7, hopefully 6 b/c I hate Dallas. GOGO CP3
    vs.
    #7 Dallas Mavericks

    #3 SA Spurs
    vs.
    #6 Phoenix Suns in 7.
Easily the best first round match up. The Suns have 5 players that can score in double figures every night. Ginobili is playing lights out but I'm having a hard time betting on SA when Phoenix is finally playing really well.

#4 Utah Jazz in 7. Boring series is boring.
    vs.
    #5 Houston Rockets

    EAST

#1 Boston Celtics in 5. Why? I'm feeling generous I guess.
    vs.
#8 Atlanta Hawks (lol not a typo)

    #2 Detroit Pistons in 6.
    vs.
    #6 Phil. 76'ers
I like the 76'ers squad this year, but you're kidding yourself if you think Andre Miller / Andre Iguadala can create space against Chauncey/Prince. The match ups here are WAY in DET's favor.

#3 Orlando Magic in 6. Can't bet against superman.
    vs.
    #6 Toronto Raptors

    #4 Lebron James & others
    vs.
    #5 Washington Wizards

This series is a coin flip imo. It's really hard to predict this game when the new look Cavs' just aren't gelling like everyone thought they would/could. Although Agent 00 is back, i'm having a hard time saying the Wizards have what it takes to stop Lebron when he single handedly defeated Detroit a year ago. This is a really tough pick imo.

    Season MVP Favorites:
    #1. KOBEEEEEE
#2. Chris Paul (this dude is the best thing since Kobe/MJ themselves. No fucking joke.)
    #3. LBJ/Garnett. Toss up.

I'm a knick fan at heart, so I'm basically just rooting for my favorite players this year. I wouldn't mind seeing Kobe/Garnett/Chris Paul get a ring. Who else is everyone going for? Who do you think deserves MVP?

    Re: 2007-2008 NBA Playoffs

Chris Paul for MVP for sure.

That guy is just ridiculous in all aspects of the game.

Kobe Bryant could win MVP every year and deserve it each and every time. It's hard to bet against Kobe, but I think Paul has it this year.

I've got the Celtics and Phoenix/LA in the finals. Not sure yet who is going to come out of the western conference. I'd probably go w/ LA since Phoenix's defense is non-existent.

This season, instead of the wast thinking "Don't worry about the west until the finals," the west is thinking "Don't worry about the east until the finals."

No, generally the west thinks: Dont worry about the East ever.

You guys act like the Celtics didn't win 67 games this season lol.

Or that the Heat/Pistons won rings what, 2 years ago?

Edit: Actually the Celtics didn't win 67 lol, it was 66.

The East is unfairly easy till the conference finals, and even then, watching Detroit basically throw in the towel the last two years, Boston has a damn easy path to the finals.

Lakers are going to come out of the West. No other result is acceptable.

    That is the correct answer.

A horrible match up is what hurt you guys most. But it's not like the Mavericks aren't choke artists anyways. Still lolling at Dallas being up 3-0 in the finals, made plans for the championship parade.... and then lost.

Edit: Not saying the East is good, but don't sleep on the Celtics. They're the best team in the league. Who ever comes out of the east isn't going to be a joke like last year.

6 game series, they were up 2-0, not 3-0.

Most everyone is predicting Celtics are going to win the dreadful east. Some even predicting Boston to win it all. Like I said, no one cares about the east (except boston fan)...all the action is in the west.

and for anyone who thinks the west is an automatic lock for the championship, you really ought to stop repeating stupid cliches like the rest of the sports world and recognize that boston and detroit are truly for real.

For real or not, if the Lakers make it to the finals they'll take either one.

Dallas should of beaten the Heat back in 06. The refereeing was ridiculously bad. Everytime Wade went to the basket he was "fouled", was especially relevant in the last game in Miami O.o

    WEST
#1 LA Lakers - I like the Lakers, but don't sleep on the Nuggets.
    vs.
    #8 Denver Nuggets

#2 NO Hornets - I like CP3 and I wonder if the Hornets threw the last game so they could play the Mavs in the first round. Hm.
    vs.
    #7 Dallas Mavericks

    #3 SA Spurs
    vs.
#6 Phoenix Suns - Here's hoping the Big Shaqtus finally helps the Suns get over the hump.

    #4 Utah Jazz
    vs.
#5 Houston Rockets - Sorry T-Mac. Still can't get out of the first round.

    EAST

    #1 Boston Celtics - Yeah..
    vs.
    #8 Atlanta Hawks

#2 Detroit Pistons - Don't sleep on the young 76ers. Still not TOO much of a problem for the Pistons with their experience.
    vs.
    #6 Phil. 76'ers

#3 Orlando Magic - Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu could have a big series.
    vs.
    #6 Toronto Raptors

    #4 Lebron James & others
    vs.
#5 Washington Wizards - I don't think their blockbuster trade really helped them and Agent 0 is actually right. They haven't been playing well and anyone would want to play them in the first round.

While the Suns/Spurs is easily the best Round 1 match-up, the Wizards/Cavs series interests me the most due to the Arenas/LBJ drama.

Funny that you should say that about the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nuggets make ar un on them honestly. Not saying the Lakers won't win, but it'll be an interesting series. How are people shitting on the East when the Celtics won 80% of their games; 25-5 against the West? Meh. I'm also not saying they'll be locks to win the championship, but it'll be interesting.

Isn't that offset by the amount of flops Dirk was given in the first two games? I'd bring up Shaq but he doesn't make his free throws anyway.
